Chidorum Benedict Nwakanma

Chido Benedict Nwakanma is a communications strategist, journalist, scholar and marketer with extensive media and industry experience consulting in Nigeria and Africa.

He has 34 years of communication management experience covering roles in media, industry and consulting. Nwakanma’s specialities are communication strategy development and execution, branding and identity, content development, custom publishing, media engagement, editing.

Nwakanma is chief executive of The BrandHaus Communications Ltd, a strategic communication management firm. He had been Chief Executive of The Brandhaus Limited and Taijo Wonukabe Limited, Export, Institutional Sales, and Media Relations Manager at Cadbury Nigeria plc. He was also General Editor of BUSINESS magazine and regional correspondent (PH) covering the South-South and South East for the defunct ThisWeek magazine.

A respected voice in Nigeria’s communication circles, Nwakanma is President of the International Association of Business Communicators, Nigeria chapter, and was president of the Public Relations Consultants Association of Nigeria, PRCAN,  2012-2014. He is a member of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, the Chartered Institute of Public Relations UK, and a registered practitioner in advertising. Mr Nwakanma is a resource person for workshops and enjoys imparting knowledge from his vast experience in the industry.

Mr Nwakanma is a thought leader and writes The Public Sphere column that has featured in BusinessDay, Thisday, EnuguMetro.com and NewsExpress.com.

He was consulting editor and facilitator for Nigeria Monthly, the official journal of Nigeria published by the Federal Ministry of Information and Communication. He is also adjunct faculty at the School of Media and Communication, Pan Atlantic University, Lagos.

Nwakanma holds an Upper Honours BA in Mass Communication from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (1985) and MSc Sociology from the University of Lagos. He also obtained the MSc Media & Communication degree from the School of Media and Communication, Pan Atlantic University, Lagos.
